The Deutsche Afrika-Linien/John T. Essberger Group of Companies dates back to the year 1924 when the former Imperial Navy Officer, Commander John Theodor Essberger established himself as a tanker ship owner in Hamburg.

Today the group consists of the Deutsche Afrika-Linien operating traditional liner services to Southern Africa, East Africa and the Islands of the Indian Ocean, and John T.Essberger with its chemical tanker, dry cargo and ship management divisions. Read more
